A surgeon's steady hand, the patience of a saint and a dollop of creative genius: these are the qualities required to be a sensei of MS Paint.
Pat Hines has spent the last ten years of his life drawing a graphic novel with MS Paint. 'Paint’s simplicity and limitations are what I enjoy the most about it. I like the idea that you don’t need an expensive programme or materials to create something that’s nice to look at,' the self-taught artist told Microsoft New England.
Hines found Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other advanced illustrating tools too complicated to use. For a decade, Pat Hines filled quiet times while working nights at a hospital reception desk by illustrating an ambitious graphic novel.
His e-book, Camp Redblood and the Essential Revenge, is a story about a summer camp in the 1980s. His illustrations have gone viral thanks to the unique method of their creation and the remarkable results achieved.
