Warning: this video may be disturbing for some viewers

Two men from Boston (Massachusetts, US) were taking a stroll around the city when they came across a couple sleeping in the front seats of their car. But this seemed anything but an afternoon nap; the couple looked to be in uncomfortable positions and lying on the girl’s lap was a syringe.

In an attempt to raise awareness on drug addiction in the city, the men decided to broadcast what was happening on Facebook Live:

After several attempts to wake the couple by knocking on the car window, the girl finally reacts, waking up and looking decidedly disoriented. She then tries to wake up her friend, Dan. But he doesn’t respond.

‘I have Narcan in my trunk,’ says the girl finally, realising he’s taken an overdose. She immediately tumbles out of the vehicle and grabs the medicine, which, she says, ‘works. I’ve been through this multiple times.’

And, as soon as she gives him the shot of Narcan, Dan wakes up as if he were in a scene from Pulp Fiction. It takes him a few minutes to come round. Meanwhile the police turn up to help. And, later, according to reports in CNN, the Boston Medical and Emergency Services also came to their aid.

The Facebook video has already been viewed more than 12 million times. The incident is at least serving to raise awareness.
