Hopefully, justice will be served

The rumblings of vile neo-Nazi protests in Charlottesville, Virginia earlier this month are still being echoed around the world, particularly since US President Donald Trump failed to condemn attacks from the far-right that saw one counter-protester die and dozens of others injured.

Ever since the apocalyptic-style marches on the American city, an arrest warrant has been issued for far-right blogger Christopher Cantwell, from Keene, New Hampshire, after he reportedly used tear gas to attack people protesting the white nationalist crowd. He has now turned himself in to police, authorities have confirmed. University of Virginia police were searching for the prominent white supremacist figure on two counts of the illegal use of tear gas or other gases, and one count of malicious bodily injury with a ‘caustic substance’, explosive or fire during the violent Charlottesville clashes. Late last night (Wednesday), university police issued a statement stating that Cantwell turned himself in to police in nearby Lynchburg, Virginia, where he was being held in Blue Ridge Regional jail before being taken to Charlottesville. The extremist told Associated Press on Tuesday that he had indeed pepper-sprayed a counter-protester on the campus of the University of Virginia, but he insisted that it was an act of self-defence. ‘My only other option was knocking out his teeth’, he said of the incident. An access-all areas pass into the psyche of such an abominable racist was granted to Vice News, in which the publication interviewed Cantwell as he revealed his warped desire for an ‘ethno-state’ and said that Heather Heyer’s murder during the clashes was justified. According to the white nationalist, ‘more people are going to die before we’re done here.’
