It turns out that Kardashian and Kafka have more in common than that capital 'K'. Khloe Kardashian, Kim's little sister, has been sued for posting a photo of... herself... to Instagram. It sounds absurd, but there's a reason for it.
According to Us Weekly, the photo agency is demanding that Khloe pay them $25,000 in statutory damages to compensate the fact that, by sharing the photo with her almost- 70 million followers, Khloe has infringed on the agency's licensing and undermined their ability to profit from the pictures.
Lawyers for Xposure Photos have accused Khloe of 'willful, intentional, and malicious' copyright infringement.
'Kardashian’s Instagram post made the photograph immediately available to her nearly 67 million followers and others … who would otherwise be interested in viewing licensed versions of the photograph in the magazines and newspapers that are plaintiff’s customers,' Xposure Photos said in a statement.
If $25,000 sounds like a lot, bear in mind that Khloe can earn more than $200,000 for a sponsored post on her social media accounts.
Looks like the lawsuit won't be breaking Khloe's bank.
