The pilot tried to bribe the girls to stop them reporting him, but could now be facing prosecution for a violation of intimacy.
Seven girl friends went out sailing earlier this month on a small boat in Mallorca. Once anchored in Portocolom, to the southeast of the island, they decided to have a swim and soak up the sun. Five of the girls sunbathed nude and the other two in their bikinis, until a drone stopped above them.
It had a red flashing light. It was recording. The young girls decided to find the drone’s owner. The pilot was with friends on a luxury 20-metre yacht anchored closeby. He flew overhead several times and sniggered with his friends as they ogled at the images sent back to the computer. The girls shouted warnings and gestured to the boys to stop filming. But their protests fell on deaf ears.
So, the girls filmed the drone and used their mobile phones to take pictures of the boat, which had recently arrived from a regatta. The crew hid their French flag to avoid being identified. Once moored in the port, the girls went after them, gave them an earful and threatened to report them to the Spanish military police.
Flustered at the prospect of police involvement, the owner of the boat promised he’d deleted the images and tried to bribe the girls. They then told him where to stick his offer and filed their report. Now the boys might be facing prosecution for a violation of intimacy.
