Police have arrested a man in Chelsea on suspicion of grievous bodily harm
It was a horrifying moment that could have ended up being so much worse. A 33-year-old woman was walking over Putney Bridge, in west London, when a male jogger barged into her, knocking her off the pavement and into the path of an oncoming bus.
The quick reflexes of the bus driver prevented a tragedy from occurring. He swerved out of the way before stopping to check if the woman was alright. The incident occurred on 5 May, but this week police released CCTV footage to appeal for witnesses.
The appeal for information seems to have worked: on Thursday morning, Police arrested a man in Chelsea on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
The 50-year-old man was detained at a residential address in south-west London, the Metropolitan Police said. He was later released on bail.
It is understood that the man was arrested after a tip-off received from a member of the public.
Officers continue to appeal for any witnesses to the incident.
