The sequel promises to be as big as the originalGuardians of the Galaxy became Marvel's greatest success in 2014. It showed that, although the protagonists were completely unknown, they still had the power to fill cinemas all over the world.
Thanks to a perfect mix of humour, action and a retro setting, the eccentric group won over audiences everywhere. Now, they're back, and without making the slightest change to their winning formula. The director James Gunn has released the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and it couldn't look more promising.
With the exception of Groot, who is now a babe in arms, the team, led by Star Lord (Chris Pratt), maintain the same roles that worked so well for them in the first time round. What's more, this time, we'll meet the protagonist's father: Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell).
In the trailer, we see the evolution of several characters, such as Drax (Dave Bautista), who has gone from thuggish brute to thuggish brute with a sense of humour. But the film still has the same essence and the same distinctive soundtrack that could only be imitated by Stranger Things.
After the much anticipated release on the 5th of May 2017, the Guardians will play an important role in Avengers:Infinity War. The fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin), the great villain of the first film with Rocket and company, will take place on Earth.
So we'll get to see how they behave next to Iron Man and the rest of the the Avengers. But, before that, a new adventure awaits.
