Sub1 Reloaded is a robot designed exclusively for one purpose: to solve the Rubik’s Cube in the shortest time possible.
The robot, designed by Albert Beer, has set a new world record by solving the legendary 3-D combination puzzle in just 0.637 seconds.
The high-performance robot was exhibited recently at The Electronics Trade Fair in Munich, where it showed off its abilities.
The robot uses sensors in its cameras to analyse the positions of the colours. It then calculates all the necessary movements and sends orders to each of its six motors – one for each side of the cube.
The achievement of Sub1 Reloaded has been recognised by Guinness World Records in the robot category. The official "human" record is held by Feliks Zemdegs, who solved the puzzle in 4.73 seconds. Now, however, it seems a new champion has stepped into the ring.
